Neoclassicism

The Doric Column.

Mimic my own painting of the golden taffeta dress.

Allusions to fashionable neoclassicism. The column is a common feature in memorials including the Duchess of Sutherland’s parents and her factor James Loch (who orchestrated many of the clearances on her behalf). Memorial to whom? Caochlaidh ‘The Great Change, Demise, or Death’ the term by which some Gaelic speakers refer to the period during which the clearances took place.

The column is a support. But it is unclear what it is supporting in this case.
